How Long Should I Take Probiotic Supplements?

Probiotics represent a form of supplement good bacteria that inhabit your colon. People with certain issues or imbalances may benefit from supplemental forms of probiotics in your diet. Probiotic Supplements have a lot of benefits on overall well-being if taken the right way.

Since your body works to naturally maintain a healthy balance of these good bacteria, there is no need to take probiotic supplements regularly. The dosages can range from 1-10 billion organisms to be taken 3-4 times a day, noting again that the duration depends on the ailment. For example, they recommend taking probiotics for 12 weeks to help with hayfever and four to eight weeks of dosages for constipation. 

On the other hand, it is best to talk to a doctor when deciding to start on a probiotic dosage. As you can see, the reason for taking the probiotic directly impacts the duration in which you should take the supplement. So, talk to your doctor about the right probiotic dosage for your ailments. 


Benefits of Probiotic Use

Probiotic foods are recommended for achieving health benefits. Fermented and non-fermented milk, yogurt, soy beverages, and juice drinks often contain probiotics. Other options include kefir, miso, and kimchi. When selecting a food product, make sure the label says "live and active cultures." Probiotics can die in high temperatures, so unless the label indicates otherwise, keep food products cold.
